4. SSL or TLS Encryption

This website uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential information.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies are small pieces of information that may be stored on your device. Some of these technologies are technically necessary to ensure that the website and the features you request function properly.

Unless the storage of information on your device or access to information already stored is technically necessary, this will only occur with your prior consent.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, effective for the future, using the consent settings provided on our website.

Technically necessary cookies and similar storage mechanisms may be used to the extent that they are necessary to provide the website features you have expressly requested.

For detailed information about the cookies currently used on our website, their purpose, and how long they are stored, please see our Cookie Policy.

8. Consent Management with Complianz

We use Complianz | GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent on our website to manage the use of cookies and similar technologies and to respect the privacy settings you have selected.

Complianz stores technically necessary information about the selections you have made. This allows the website to recognize which consents have been granted or denied and to take your decision into account when you visit other pages.

If services that require consent are used, Complianz ensures that they are activated only in accordance with your selection.

Data is processed to comply with data protection requirements and to manage your consent.

You can change your settings at any time using the consent management feature available on our website.

9. WordPress and Elementor

Our website is based on the WordPress content management system and is designed and technically implemented using Elementor or Elementor Pro.

WordPress and Elementor may store technically necessary information in the browser to the extent necessary for the display, operation, and functionality of the website.

Additional technical data may be stored, particularly for logged-in administrators and editors. This data is used, for example, to save settings for the WordPress backend or the Elementor editor and generally does not affect regular website visitors.

WordPress and Elementor are not used on this website for advertising, tracking, or profiling purposes.

For more information about the cookies and browser storage currently detected, please see our Cookie Policy.

10. Security Measures with Defender

To ensure the technical security of our WordPress installation, we use the Defender security plugin.

Among other things, Defender is designed to detect unauthorized access and attempted attacks on the website and to protect the WordPress installation against misuse.

As part of these security features, technically necessary information may be processed. This may include, in particular, IP addresses and information about security-related access attempts or failed login attempts.

Data processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in ensuring the security of our website, defending against attacks, and protecting our technical systems.

We do not use features for the external storage of audit logs, cloud synchronization, or the transmission of security logs to an external WPMU-DEV hub.

Security-related data is processed only for as long as is necessary for the respective security purpose.

11. Multilingual Capabilities with WPML and Automatic Translation

To make our website available in German and English, we use WPML (WordPress Multilingual Plugin) from OnTheGoSystems Limited.

WPML is used to technically provide the various language versions of our website and to accommodate the language selected by the visitor.

To this end, technically necessary cookies or similar browser storage mechanisms may be used.

Depending on the configuration, the following cookie, in particular, may be used:

wp-wpml_current_language
This is used to save the currently selected language.

If automatic redirection based on the browser language is enabled, the following cookies may also be used:

_icl_visitor_lang_js
Stores the language used for automatic browser language redirection.

wpml_browser_redirect_test
Used to perform a technical test of the browser’s language redirection.

This information is stored solely for the purpose of providing or storing the requested language version.

To the extent that storage is technically necessary to provide the language function selected by the visitor, it is carried out as a technically necessary function.

Optional features for transmitting technical usage or diagnostic data to WPML will not be enabled unless they are necessary for the operation of the website.

To create the English version, we also use the automatic translation feature built into WPML. DeepL is used as the translation service.

For automatic translation, the selected content from our website is transmitted via WPML’s translation infrastructure to the respective translation service, where it is processed to generate the translation. WPML notes that, in order to provide automatic translations, content may be transmitted to external translation providers such as DeepL, among others. According to WPML, the transmitted content is not used to train AI models.

DeepL is operated by DeepL SE, Maarweg 165, 50825 Cologne, Germany. According to DeepL, texts submitted through its professional translation services are processed only temporarily—to the extent necessary for generating and delivering the translation—and are subsequently deleted. The content is not used to improve or train the general translation models.

Automatic translation is used exclusively for the editorial creation and maintenance of the various language versions of our website. Simply visiting the German- or English-language website does not trigger an automatic translation on DeepL.

For more information about data processing by WPML, please see OnTheGoSystems’ privacy policy. For more information about data processing by DeepL, please see DeepL SE’s privacy policy.

12. Data Backups with UpdraftPlus

We use UpdraftPlus to create technical backups of our WordPress website.

The backup copies may also contain personal data stored within our WordPress installation.

The backups are used exclusively for the purpose of backing up and restoring our website, particularly in the event of technical errors, data loss, or security incidents.

The backup copies are not transferred to an external cloud or storage service, but are stored within our existing hosting environment.

Data processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in ensuring the availability, integrity, and recoverability of our website.

Backup copies are retained only for as long as necessary for the respective backup and recovery purposes.

13. Additional Technical WordPress Components

We use additional WordPress components for the technical administration, optimization, and maintenance of our website, including for:

  • search engine optimization
  • caching and performance optimization
  • database maintenance
  • backup management
  • editorial management functions

These include, for example, Yoast SEO, WP-Optimize, Ocean Extra, and internal management plugins.

These components are used within our WordPress installation and are not used to track visitors for advertising, analytics, or profiling purposes.

If future changes result in additional data processing activities relevant to data protection or external data transfers, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

14. No External Analytics or Marketing Services

Based on the current configuration, we do not use any external web analytics, advertising, or marketing services on this website.

In particular, we do not currently use services such as Google Analytics or similar visitor tracking systems.

Similarly, we currently do not use any externally embedded map, video, or social media services that transmit personal data to third-party providers simply by visiting our pages.

Should such services be added in the future, they will—where necessary—be loaded only after prior consent has been obtained, and this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

15. Retention Period

Unless a specific retention period is specified in this Privacy Policy, we process and store personal data only for as long as is necessary for the respective purpose.

In addition, statutory retention requirements may necessitate longer storage periods.

If the purpose of processing no longer applies and there are no legal or other legitimate grounds for further storage, the relevant data will be deleted.

16. Your Rights

Under the terms of the law, you have the following rights in particular:

  • Right of access information about the processing of your personal data
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate personal data
  • Right to erasure of personal data
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to certain processing activities

To the extent that processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect.

The lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of consent until such consent is revoked remains unaffected by the revocation.

To exercise your rights, you may contact us at any time using the contact information provided in this Privacy Policy.

17. Right to Object

To the extent that we process personal data pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation.

In the event of an objection, we will generally no longer process the personal data in question, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or the processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

18. Right to File a Complaint with a Data Protection Supervisory Authority

You have the right to file a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection laws.

For private companies headquartered in Bavaria, the following supervisory authority is specifically responsible:

Germany

Phone: +49 (0) 981 180093-0
